📍 Somewhere between the Faroe Islands and Iceland, in the North Atlantic
🗺️ Approximate location: deck 10, deep carpet, obstructed view

Land in sight.
Well... according to the devices receiving text messages indicating that Icelandic networks are vaguely picked up. Visually? Nothing. A hazy, uniform horizon line.
The ferry seems pretty full. Or maybe everyone's just moved to deck 10, where plush sofas, a theoretically unobstructed view, a nice cafe, and a carpeted floor perfect for an impromptu nap reign supreme. The sofas? All occupied. Kids, bikers, retirees, travelers of all stripes. Everyone's waiting for their first slice of Iceland.
The sea is calm, despite the ferry's multiple schedule adjustments due to unpredictable weather over the past few days. A light swell reminds us that we are still in the middle of the ocean.
The night was short, but restorative. This morning, I set about preparing the list of equipment and supplies for our trip to the Icelandic nature reserve. A long list... a good third of which I won't be returning to. But the bags will get lighter as the days go by.
One dilemma remains: the coffee maker.
Dead weight or ultimate luxury?
Isn't a hot coffee in the middle of nowhere, when it's raining and your fingers are frozen, the ultimate cure for demotivation?
Isn't a good coffee the thing that makes you say, "We're good here," even when nothing's going right?
I think so. But we'll talk about it again over coffee.
