The quay is quiet.
The wind carries the smell of salt and the sea.
The bags are already heavy on the shoulders, but it's the heart that beats faster.
In less than an hour, the sea will be our route and the horizon our only compass.
There we are, ready. In 45 minutes, the boat will set sail for Hornstrandir.
The Jimny will stay here, parked, undisturbed for the next eight days. It has everything it needs to last: a full tank of fuel, water containers, and some emergency supplies... We should find everything intact when we return.
For our part, we hope to have thought of everything: plenty of food, something to stay warm and dry, repairing what might break... and accepting what won't be repaired.
Final check of the safety equipment: everything seems fine. The bags, however, are still as heavy as they were last night.
For those of you who follow us: don't worry if things go silent. No news until August 18th, and maybe just a terse:
“OK… we just arrived… we’re exhausted…”
Hornstrandir is a complete disconnection: no network, no road, just the sea, the mountains, and whatever you have on your back.
Only one question remains, existential:
And… the coffee maker, finally? ☕️
