A little clarification following my visit to Geysir and Gullfoss.
When I use the word "Disneyland," it's not a criticism of how anyone chooses to travel. Tourism is vital to Iceland—in fact, after fishing, it's one of the pillars of its economy. And everyone is, of course, free to experience their trip however they wish.
For my part, I simply realize that what I prefer to share in these notebooks are the more discreet places, the more difficult to access, or even those little coincidences of travel that are just a step away.
Perhaps it's because I remember my first times here—in 2008, then in 2016—when I discovered a different side to these places. Today, Iceland has changed, and that's normal.
But what hasn't changed is the country's beauty. Its magnificent landscapes. And above all, the weather, as unpredictable and authoritarian as ever, reminding us every moment that it's the one that decides.
