A little bonus post, because we're still getting signal while we're sailing - and after the peninsula on the horizon, complete silence awaits us.
The crossing goes well... at least for the first half hour. We see dozens of puffins panicked by our wake, trying to take off in a panic or, in the worst cases, diving headfirst.
It's no wonder: these birds are restrained in flight, but incredible swimmers underwater. They use their wings like flippers and their webbed feet as rudders, being able to dive to depths of 60 m for almost a minute.
Their flight is a visual spectacle: rapid beats (up to 400 times per minute) a few meters above the surface, sometimes up to 88 km/h, giving the impression of a clown in the sky.
Now I'm heading out onto the deck to see if I can spot any whales. This silence, this immense sea... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
