After a warm encounter on a terrace in Aarhus with a couple as curious as they were friendly, we hit the road again towards Hirtshals, the last stop before the big leap to Iceland.
But before that, a detour to the Rubjerg Knude lighthouse, perched on a shifting sand cliff.
🏚️ Built in 1900, it was moved 70 meters in 2019 to prevent it from falling into the sea, eaten away by the constant erosion of the coastline.
Today, it still sits proudly atop its dune, with spectacular views of the North Sea.
⛅ We reach it just before sunset. Golden light, strong wind, silence and immensity.
And then… the tile.
🫠 When I opened the trunk, I discovered that our flexible jerry can, recently purchased and filled the day before, had completely emptied... into my walking shoes.
Result: no more water and two unusable lace-up sponges.
💧 Luckily, a group of campers a little further away kindly filled our water bottles.
👟 The shoes will take the time they need.
Tent pitching, quick meal, and an early night, because tomorrow: ferry to Iceland, and departure has been brought forward by an hour.
The real departure is approaching.
